On Wednesday, May 22nd — Outloud Open Mike at The Beebe Estate in Melrose features Five Local Writers from Scriptor Press { http://scriptorpress.com/ } in honor of the debut of Sampler #14. This installment collects Scriptor’s best writings and artwork published in the last year. A print- and web-based vehicle, Scriptor Press gathers and presents an array of talents, both far-flung and familiar. Five local contributors will read their works, including: Ric Amante, ZanneMarie Lloyd Taylor, Tom Sheehan, Joe Coleman, and Raymond Soulard, Jr.
Outloud also includes our monthly open mike
Sign up starts up at 7:15 PM and the open mike starts at 7:30 PM. Each performer gets approximately 10 minutes to sing, dance, play and be creative in that special ‘Outloud’ way. Our creative atmosphere is always receptive and respectful. We meet up at the Beebe Estate’s art exhibit space, 235 West Foster, Melrose { beebeestate.com }. Free parking is available on the grounds.

Outloud meets every fourth Wednesday of the month, with the exception August and December.
There is no cover to get in, but donations are accepted to support local charities and help cover operational expenses.

March’s Outloud Open Mike at the Beebe Estate features Peggy Rambach — an accomplished writer and memoirist { Fighting Gravity ( memoir ); When the Animals Leave ( short stories ) and anthologist ( All that Matters: Memoir from the Wellness Community of Greater Boston ( stories from cancer survivors ); Seeds of Lotus: Cambodian and Vietnamese Voices in America }. Rambach’s non-fiction has appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian, The Journal of the American Medical Association, the Boston Globe Magazine, and the Boston Globe Book Section. She has received two awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council Individual Artist Grant in Fiction, as well as the St. Botolph Foundation Grant in Literature. She was named a 2005 Literacy Champion by the Massachusetts Literacy Foundation.
On Wednesday, January 23 — Outloud Open Mike at The Beebe Estate features the authentic Cambridge folk act Lenny Solomon Band. Singer / song-writer Lenny Solomon continues to hone his original style — poignant, gently humorous, drawing from a variety of traditions and rhythms.
