October’s Outloud Open Mike Coffeehouse for poetry, prose, and music features poet Ric Amante.
Author of ‘Digging In,’ Lawrence-born Amante founded Outloud Open Mike and was one of the major forces to establish the open mike scene in the Melrose area. His poetry has been described as both lyrical and meditative, expressing a working-man’s American journey, from cities of furnished rooms to reflections of rural Maine to flights of the human spirit.
Our Open Mike sign up starts at 7:15pm — performances and readings run from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Each performer is allotted 10 minutes. Outloud’s creative and nurturing atmosphere is always receptive, warm and respectful.
There is no cover; donations are accepted for costs ( including refreshments ) and local charity.
Outloud meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at The Beebe Estate’s art exhibit space at 235 West Foster, Melrose ( Go to beebeestate.com for more about The Beebe Estate ).
Parking available on grounds, behind the estate; entrance is at the back of the building.
