September’s Outloud Open Mike Coffeehouse for poetry, prose, and music features accomplished local writer Nita Penfold. Her new book, ‘The Woman With The Wild-Grown Hair: Complete Poems,’ chronicles a feminist journey toward authenticity and self-realization. Penfold ( www.nitapenfold.weebly.com ) has published over 500 poems and several short stories, including in ‘The Absence of Something Specified’ (2016), ‘One Sentence Stories’ (Muddy Puddle Press, 2017), and the Charters & Charters text book, ‘Literature & Its Writers’ (4th edition). Her awards include Writer’s Digest International Self-Published Book Award (2006), and Judith Siegel Pierson Award (2005). She is an editor emerita for Earth’s Daughters Literary Magazine.
